Inform Others

Inform your teachers or employer about your condition, preferably before the symptoms begin to interfere with your tasks. This will help them avoid mistaking your behavior for laziness or lack of interest and motivation. Informing your colleagues may save you from hostility and rejection or even reduce the risk of losing your job. Together, you can identify ways to help you cope with narcolepsy once you are at work or school. You can for instance agree to take regular naps during the day, break up monotonous tasks or record lectures on tapes.
